1a The Song of Ascents.
1b Remember, YHWH, for David’s sake,
1c everything that he endured,
2a he who swore to YHWH
2b (who) vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3a "I will not go into the dwelling place which is my house,
3b or go up onto the bed which is my couch,
4a or give sleep to my eyes
4b or slumber to my eyelids,
5a before I find a place for YHWH,
5b a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob."
הִנֵּֽה־שְׁמַֽעֲנ֥וּהָ בְאֶפְרָ֑תָה 6a Look! We heard about it in Ephrathah;
6b we found it in the fields of Jaar:
7a "Let us go to his dwelling place,
7b let us bow down toward his footstool!
8a Set out, YHWH, to your resting place,
8b you and your strong ark!
9a May your priests be clothed with righteousness,
9b and may your faithful ones sing for joy!"
10a For the sake of David, your servant,
10b do not refuse your anointed one.
נִשְׁבַּֽע־יְהוָ֨ה ׀ לְדָוִ֡ד אֱמֶת֮ 11a YHWH swore to David (in) sincerity;
11b he will not turn back from it:
11c "(Someone) from your offspring,
11d I will place on your throne.
12a If your descendants keep my covenant
12b and my laws that I will teach them,
12c then their descendants will also forever
12d sit on your throne."
כִּֽי־בָחַ֣ר יְהוָ֣ה בְּצִיּ֑וֹן 13a For YHWH had chosen Zion;
13b he had desired her as his dwelling place:
זֹאת־מְנוּחָתִ֥י עֲדֵי־ע֑ד 14a "This is my resting place forever;
14b here I will dwell, because I have desired her.
צֵ֭ידָהּ בָּרֵ֣ךְ אֲבָרֵ֑ךְ 15a I will richly bless her provisions;
15b her poor (people) I will satisfy with food.
16a And her priests I will clothe with salvation,
16b and her faithful ones will sing exuberantly for joy.
שָׁ֤ם אַצְמִ֣יחַ קֶ֣רֶן לְדָוִ֑ד 17a There I will cause a horn to grow for David;
17b I have put in place a lamp for my anointed one.
18a His enemies I will clothe with shame,
18b but his crown will flourish on him."
